Ripe peach halves brushed with butter, sprinkled with cinnamon brown sugar and air fried until soft and caramelized at the edges. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream; serves 4.
Ten minutes in the air fryer turns ripe peaches into something that tastes like the inside of a peach cobbler. The brown sugar melts into a glossy glaze, and the fruit turns soft and jammy.
Serve them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a spoonful of yogurt or a drizzle of honey. They are just as good over pancakes or waffles the next morning.
Ingredients
Peaches
4 ripe but firm peaches, halved and pitted
1 tablespoon butter, melted
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of kosher salt
Neutral oil or cooking spray, for the basket
For serving
Vanilla ice cream, Greek yogurt or whipped cream, for serving
Honey or maple syrup and fresh mint, for serving (optional)
Instructions
Heat the air fryer. Heat the air fryer to 350°F. Pat the cut sides of the peaches dry with a paper towel so the sugar sticks.
Season. Stir the brown sugar, cinnamon and salt together. Brush the cut sides of the peaches with the melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar evenly over them.
Air fry. Lightly oil the basket and set the peaches in it cut side up, in one layer (work in batches if needed). Air fry 8 to 10 minutes, until the peaches are tender when pierced with a fork and the sugar is bubbling and golden at the edges.
Serve. Let them cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with ice cream or yogurt, a drizzle of honey or maple syrup and a few mint leaves.
Tips
Choose peaches that smell sweet and give slightly when pressed; very soft peaches collapse in the air fryer.
Nectarines and plums work the same way; plums may need a minute or two less.
Leftovers keep, covered, in the refrigerator for 2 days. Warm them in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
For crunch, sprinkle chopped pecans or granola over the top before serving.
Questions about this recipe
Do I need to peel the peaches?
No. The skin softens as they cook and helps the halves hold their shape.
Can I use canned peaches?
Drained canned peach halves work in a pinch; pat them very dry and cut the brown sugar to 1 tablespoon, and air fry about 6 minutes.
Can I freeze air fryer peaches?
They turn mushy when thawed, so they are best eaten within a couple of days.
